Peter Steinberger, the founder of OpenClaw, is joining OpenAI. OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, shared this news on Sunday. He said Peter will help build the next generation of personal AI agents.

Altman also said OpenClaw will remain open source. It will move to a foundation, and OpenAI will continue to support it. This means people can still use it, study it, and improve it freely.

OpenClaw is an AI assistant that helps with daily tasks. It can manage emails, talk to insurance companies, check flight details, and do many other simple jobs for users.

The tool has grown very fast since it launched in November. It received more than 100,000 stars on GitHub and attracted about 2 million visitors in just one week.

However, some experts have raised concerns. China’s industry ministry warned that open-source AI agents like OpenClaw could create security risks if they are set up incorrectly.

Steinberger said it was always important for him to keep OpenClaw open source. He believes joining OpenAI will help him grow his vision and bring the technology to more people.
